Smartphone Application Ideas

    Many new and experienced developers are trying to find some new, cool and futuristic smartphone application ideas, but these ideas are very rare to find because of many different reasons. Some of the reasons can be like that there are already tons of apps available in the stores (play store, app store) that whenever you guesses some idea and you think oo cool this thing is surely new, but then when you search for that on the web it is already present in the market and this thing really frustrates. 

   I will try to bring some very cool and productive application ideas which may not be new but surely productive and specially for new developers should try them to get hold on the smartphone app development. Application ideas will come into the mind automatically when you know for which platform you want to develop, what are the hardware components, like these days you got a lot of sensors to work on with. These include e.g. Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer, temperature, humidity, gesture. 

   By the use of these apps in your application it will effect it in a positive way, your app will bring more functionality into it, it will be more productive and efficient. Like the use of location based services using builtin GPS chip on the device can bring many different functions in it. 

   Following can be some of the ideas that can gain your interest, and again i will mention this important point of mentioning the new developers. They can really get benefits by trying out these app ideas in real world and making these practical.

1. Phone locator:
    The idea is not a new one, but it is a good start if you are fresh developer in to the smartphone side, and even if you are not a starter it can be a good application idea by adding some new and interesting features to the already present concepts. Some features of this app can be following:
   
    a) Turning ON/OFF GPS programatically: The code for this is available on the internet. For example this could work like you send SMS (ON-GPS or OFF-GPS) to the target phone (where your app is currently installed) and in response GPS on that phone turned on or off considering the current state on GPS. 
    b) Getting the Location: In the step get the current location of phone and send the coordinates back in the SMS to the phone from which you send the messages.

    c) Displaying the Location: After getting the coordinates you need to display that location on the map, for this purpose you can create another interface which will initialise when the you receive the coordinates and display the current location there.

    d) Finally you can turn OFF the GPS by sending OFF-GPS in the message.

2. Excusez-Deaf:
    First thing first the name of the app idea sounds lame but i didn't got any in mind so bear with it, and of cource its up-to you that what you name your application, so i think no issues remains here. Now lets dive into the more detail introduction and features of this app. 

    Firstly let clear the target users of this app, as name of the app indicates that this app is going to be useful for deaf people. Its a big issue to get attention of a deaf person both for that person and the one calling him. So lets make it easy for them, create such an app that when some one call (not phone calling) a deaf person and of course he (deaf) has installed your app on his smartphone, the app will be listening to the voices in the surrounding and executing them. so when it hear the deaf person name (the voice command which will be the point of interest ) which will be stored in it, the phone will vibrate and notify him that some one is trying to get his attention.

***By calling doesn't mean phone call but it means trying to get attention of some one like by calling his name.

3. Educational Portal:
    The idea of this application came into my mind from the online students and parents portal current active in university from where i graduated. They had this portal there where students can check their quiz, assignments and exams marks, teacher assign tasks to the students there and then students when complete their task upload it on the portal that teacher in response check them out and update its marks on the portal. 
    Its really nice thing to have in the institutes but i had found one thing in that there is no smartphone app for that portal. and i used it on my phone and it doesn't throw a good impression on the phone. 
    So here is the thing create an app for this type of portal if you already experienced such portal in your instiute or some where else. This application will be able to show all the info about current student, the subjects which he registered, all the accademic records etc. Even students attendance and the daily work done in the class will be updated on the portal.

4.Location Alarm:
    The idea behind location alarm is that suppose you need to buy something from the market but you don't the time when will you go to market so you cannot set a time based reminder for this purpose, but yes there is alternative of time and that is location. Create an app which will remind you some task you have to perform when you visit some place for example market. When you visit your nearby market your app notify your that you have to buy some stuff for daily use, and you already set the reminder for it.
